Milk Testing & Dairy Products Testing

In present times, Dairy is the top-ranking commodity in India, which is almost equal to the combined output value of rice and wheat. We all are aware that dairy foods play an important role in providing nutrients for growing children and teens. Milk and dairy products have been serving as great sources of protein especially casein, calcium, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates for people of almost all age groups including adults, seniors and athletes. Dairy industry has always been a full-on demand sector as these are consumed by people on a daily basis.

Since time out of mind, we have been habituated with milk. Milk is probably our first food and is considered as nature’s most perfect food. Milk is one of the highly perishable food commodities as it acts as a super medium for the growth of microorganisms, eventually function as a potential vehicle for transmission of diseases. Some microbes can be pathogenic and cause serious health problems to consumers. This stresses the fact that these pathogenic microorganisms need to be killed or inactivated in order to consume safely and to prevent food borne infections. Here comes the concept of processed milk treated with pasteurization, homogenization, sterilization, ultra-processing and other thermal and non-thermal techniques.

Consumption of raw milk or unpasteurized milk is reported to cause food borne infection particularly by few bacteria like Campylobacter, Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli, and Salmonella enterica serotype Typhimurium.
